Stephen A. Land

Stephen A. Land is a civil litigator and former Assistant District Attorney who has devoted his practice to family law and employment issues involving sex discrimination. Mr. Land is widely respected for the depth of his experience and negotiating skills. He is a pragmatist, known for cutting to the bottom line and expediting solutions in even the most difficult cases. He has been featured on CNN television, WXIA-TV, WSB, WNNX and WKIX radio, discussing such issues as the modern women's dilemma when facing divorce, the pain of child custody disputes, and whether alimony is still viable. Mr. Land has also written articles about alimony and child support, and has been the subject of newspaper stories describing the successful outcomes of his cases.

Mr. Land received his law degree from the University of Chicago Law School in 1960 and his undergraduate degree from Bowdoin College, from which he graduated cum laude. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Massachusetts Bar, the American Bar  Association, the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, the Atlanta Bar Association, and the Lawyers Club of Atlanta. He is a member of the family law sections of the Georgia, Atlanta and American Bar Associations.

Mr. Land believes that every possible effort must be made to resolve family disputes by mediation and settlement. Almost thirty years of experience have taught him that the alternative, litigation, is an absolute last resort when all else fails. Litigation, more often than not, leads to increased hostility, estrangement of children, and financial ruin for everyone except the lawyers. Consequently, Mr. Land will not humor clients who wish to use the legal process for any reason other than the resolution of a family dispute.
